Worcester Invisalign® Treatment TimeChances are that you have at least heard of Invisalign® invisible braces by now. If you came across this blog post as part of your research into the procedure, you may even actively be considering Invisalign® treatment. If this is the case, you are walking down a worthy path, as Invisalign® is the modern orthodontic treatment of choice, especially among people who don’t want to sacrifice their appearance while working toward a permanently healthier, more beautiful smile.

Worcester cosmetic dentist Christy W. Savas is a certified Invisalign® provider who is also an expert in smile design. He understands intimately well how to create immaculate smiles that perfectly complement the facial features of his patients. In his care, you can rest assured that you will derive all of the oral health benefits of the Invisalign® system while achieving the straight, uniform smile of your dreams. If necessary, Dr. Savas can even combine Invisalign® treatment with other cosmetic dentistry procedures as part of a long-term comprehensive smile makeover plan.

Invisalign® offers a number of cosmetic and oral health benefits, to be sure. One of its chief benefits, however, is one that often goes overlooked. At our cosmetic dentistry practice in Worcester, Invisalign® average treatment length is generally comparable to - and in some cases even shorter than - treatment with traditional metal braces. This means that you are not trading functional, practical benefits for aesthetic ones when you choose to undergo Invisalign® treatment. Indeed, you are getting the best that both cosmetic dentistry and general dentistry have to offer.

Treatment Time with Invisalign®

Depending on the needs of the patient, Invisalign® treatment requires approximately one year - roughly the same amount of time required by traditional orthodontic treatment. Of course, treatment time can vary from patient to patient depending on the extent of his or her orthodontic issues. However, bite and alignment problems that would necessitate approximately 12 months of treatment with metal braces would most likely necessitate the same with Invisalign®.

As with traditional braces, Invisalign® treatment requires periodic visits to our practice in Worcester. Invisalign® patients will wear a series of clear, custom-crafted plastic aligners over the course of their treatment. Each aligner in the series is shaped slightly differently so that the teeth will be comfortably, gradually, yet definitively guided toward their optimal positions within the mouth. Every two weeks or so, patients switch out their current aligners for the next in the series until treatment is complete.

One of the primary advantages of the Invisalign® system is that the aligners can be removed, which makes eating, brushing, and flossing much easier for patients than those who wear metal braces. However, in order to achieve the best possible results in the quickest possible time, patients must wear their Invisalign® aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours a day. Patients who fail to wear their aligners according to the treatment plan can expect longer treatment times.
